Annoying Ads...Great Little Video Converter

I've used everything from freeware tools to high-end encoders to accomplish various audio & video trans-coding tasks over the last 15 years or so, and when time permits, I love testing out new tools.  Recently, when installing software on to a new PC, I decided to try another low-cost solution that's been around for quite some time, but I've never used; AVS Video Converter.

The ads for this program are everywhere on the Internet, and to be honest they've actually made me shy away from using their software in the past.  But when I wanted to encode some video files for Web distribution from my new laptop recently my choices where (1) pay through the nose for some high-end, name brand software that I use on other machines, or (2) try a few other low-cost solutions.  Since it was for a personal Web project, I went with the latter...and I'm glad I did.

The interface for AVS Video Converter is very user friendly, making it a useful tool for both novice and advanced users. The program comes with several pre-configured profiles for the most common video formats, which is very handy for a video encoding newbie. Advanced video geeks will appreciate the ability to create and save custom profiles, with a very straight-forward GUI for modifying every aspect of the profile.

The Price is Right
AVS4YOU has a sale going on through August 31st, which provides a 1-year subscription to their software library for $39 and an unlimited subscription for $59. I have no idea how often they run sales or what they typically charge (other than what they state on their site), but personally feel the price is right based on its performance and capabilities.

I'm by no means trying to promote them, trust me...just sharing my personal opinion and experience. The last thing they need is another Internet ad, that's for sure.
