DME ResourcesLocating forensic DME resources just became a bit easier with the introduction of the Media-Geek Forensic DME Resources Map. Several DME related geo-tagging resources are currently being developed, to include a Media-Geek membership geo-tagging feature. Members are encouraged to log-in and update the contact information in their profile, which now includes an option for permitting inclusion in the membership maps.
DME Resources Map
Media-Geek members can submit resources for inclusion in the Forensic DME Resources Map! To submit markers for the map members simply need to sign-in and click the "Submit Marker" icon in the upper right-hand corner of the main map page. There are currently five categories for items that are submitted and items can be included in more than one category. The current categories include:
- Federal/Regional Labs
- Forensic LE Training Facilities
- State/Local DME Labs
- DME Analysis Service Providers, and
- Vendor Training Facilities
When a visitor or member selects a marker from the drop down or clicks a marker in the map they're provided with a layer pop-up containing two tabs; Details and Directions. The Details tab for each marker can include a description of the marker, Website links, contact information and even a logo or image (preferably no larger than 100 x 100 pixels). The Directions tab allows the visitor to enter their starting address and easily obtain driving directions to that particular marker.
Geo Tagging Our Membership: Find Media-Geek Members Near You!
Media-Geek members can now have a map displayed at the bottom of their profile that will show other nearby members! In order for this feature to work members must update their profile contact information, which now includes physical address information and the option to be included in this mapping feature or not. By default members ARE NOT included and the Nearby Members map will not display on your profile; you must update your profile to permit use of this feature.
Members who choose to permit this feature will be able to navigate the Nearby Members map on their profile, and can click on markers on the map to obtain information regarding that member. The information displayed for members who choose to participate is their profile image, name, organization, city, state, telephone and Website. Many of these fields are optional within each members contact inforamtion, so obviously if a member does not provide the information for a given field it will not be displayed. Please consider updating your profile contact information and participating...the more who do, the more useful the feature is!
