Site Search Now Includes Forums!
The site search tool will now search our member forums as well. Of course, you need to be a registered member to view the forums and posts, but at least now members will be able to search them conveniently.
Tenure, too, you might say. BTW, you can be an ass. A real hateful idiot, who preaches more than practices. Good on you. I can too.
Trying to minimize that. Try it. You might like it.
Oh, almost forgot, starting a new podcast, apparently. The Seven Five - Part 2

Late nights, early mornings, and a couple of days with no sleep at all over the last few weeks makes Larry want to buy stock in Starbucks. The new site is progressing well, but I just can't let go of the IE6 issues as easily as I thought I could. They're really no big deal, just some minor cosmetic issues, but when you put all this effort into a project you want visitors to at least see it the way it was designed...even those who choose not to update their FREE browsers. ![]()
If you've been here recently, you'll notice I've already changed the new site's layout. The concept is to provide a clean, user-friendly interface; not a fancy, schmancy look. I think this new layout accomplishes that, so I'm sticking with it. Of course, I've had to re-do much of the layout work I'd done on the previous design, but I think it's worth it. Now I just need a MAC user willing to be a "guinea pig".
The DVR database will be moving into the new secure members area effective February 11th, in conjunction with our official launch of Media-Geek.com. Having the database available to the public has always been a security concern as well as a target for spam bots, among other things. There is no membership fee or advertising based revenue generated from this site, and I'm hopeful most will understand and take the few minutes to register. Look forward to seeing you "on the inside!"
The testing continues today with the Private Messaging (PM) feature that will be made available to all members. Members will be able to PM each other from any page within the members area, including forum posts. PM settings will allow each member to be notified of new PM's via email as well, if they'd like; users can be notified of all new PMs, new PMs only when they're offline, or not at all.
Additionally, PM's can be further secured by using an encryption word for each message; you simply enter the encryption word prior to sending the message...and make sure the other party has it or they won't be able to read your PM!
It's 2:30 am EST and I'm testing browser compatibility. What's wrong with this picture? Anyway, I've tested most of the new member area functionality with IE7 and Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.7 and above; so if you're using the latest from either you're golden!
I've also tested IE6 extensively and noted a few issues related to layout, predominantly due to IE6 and IE5.5 not digging the use of PNG files At some point I may go back and resolve these issues either through "creative code" or simply converting the images to GIFs, but that likely won't be for several weeks. Hey, why not just update your darn browser already...they're both free you know!!! 🤪
